Kia Ora Friends of Sealegs,

We’re certainly experiencing a strange time in the world’s history, a time when events are moving very fast, but also life has taken a slower pace. A time when we have never been more distant, but also never felt more connected with the rest of the world.

Spending more time at home in New Zealand than in recent memory, it has made me thankful to have time to spend with my family, the ocean on my doorstep, and Sealegs – both the team I work with and the craft in my boat shed (even if I’m not allowed to use it). I’m also thankful, as this week we have been advised the Sealegs will re-open from Tuesday 28th April, after four weeks of closure. Our operations in USA, Australia, and New Zealand (incl Waiheke Island) will be operating within prescribed safe workplace protocols.

This means key members of our team will be able to return to work and complete the list of orders which has grown significantly during the lockdown, whilst much of our office staff will continue working from home, as we have been doing so for the past 4 weeks.

We are heading towards a future with greater uncertainty, and Sealegs has been taking steps during the past four weeks to ensure that we are well-placed to meet new challenges, and maximize all opportunities. This has not been accomplished without difficult decisions; however, I am heartened to hear continuing themes from our customers that provide greater certainty on the enduring joy of Sealegs.

With the limited ability to travel as we have done previously, we’re all seeking to enjoy our own backyard as much as possible. There is little that provides more ability to enjoy and explore your own backyard than a Sealegs – allowing you to travel beyond the horizon, living amphibiously is certainly the ultimate recreational activity for those near the water – for those who are, and don’t yet have a Sealegs – what are you waiting for?
